Scootching! This little girl is on the move...sort of. She wants to crawl so badly, but can't figure out the mechanics just yet. So in the meantime, she's figured out how to hurl her body weight forward while sitting up to scootch toward whatever it is she wants. We are entirely unprepared for this next phase of mobility, so we appreciate her taking...um...baby steps.
This past month held some of the biggest excitement to date. We left town! We saw and HUGGED loved ones! We saw LIVE MUSIC! We met Steven and Lindsay up in the booming metropolis of Peoria, IL to see two nights of Billy Strings on his drive-in concert tour. It was really well done, with each group having their own parking space and party space and everyone wearing masks. Such a salve for our hearts and minds when we were really needing a break in the monotony.
Sid's finally big enough to sport the nerdiest addition to her wardrobe. Zeke and I have long had dreams of publishing together. This is way better than any journal article.
We're continuing our adventures with food, and trying our hand at some baby-led feeding along with traditional spoon feeding. Favorites these days are yogurt, cottage cheese, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, scrambled eggs, and toast! Sid also loves water and thinks drinking from a cup is just the most fun.
October 1st, Sid started at a new daycare. While we have absolutely loved her old place (a small program at the local West End Synagogue) and will miss her teachers there very much, we finally got a spot in our original first choice - Vanderbilt's childcare center. In normal times when Gin would be working on campus, her building would be a two-minute walk from Sid. Even still, it's much closer to home and we are even able to walk in for pickup and dropoff! Also, Vanderbilt's center has a great reputation, they help train new early childcare professionals and participate in research through the Peabody School of Education (which Gin's department is part of). After only a week or so, it is clear that Sid has made a very smooth transition. She's napping better/longer and is already very comfortable with her new teachers. We were nervous to make the switch, but feel very confident now that it was the right move for everyone.
