Sidney is 8 months old!

Last month, Sid was trying hard but hadn't yet crawled. This past month it all came together for her! It takes her a while to get going and coordinate the limbs, but once she's got it together she takes off!

At the end of October, we celebrated our tenth anniversary as a couple (we started dating Halloween 2010), but the real excitement was Sid's first Halloween! Thanks, once again, to some great hand-me-downs Sid had a perfectly understated but on-theme outfit for school the day before Halloween - the green bat skirt. And the day after Halloween she "dressed up" as Batman!

But the piece de resistance was our family costume - Jurassic Park! Zeke and I were Drs. Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, and Sid was our little dinosaur! We spent Halloween afternoon with two of Zeke's work friends at Cheekwood - an old family estate turned botanical gardens. They had an exhibit of Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures all set up around the grounds - really incredible pieces!

This month was a special treat for us as far as live music is concerned. We got to see the Del McCoury in his first stage appearance since the start of the pandemic! It was a bit of a haul as the venue, Germantown Performing Arts Center, was just east of Memphis. But we made a very successful day trip out of it. Sid did so great in the 3hr (each way) drive, the weather was absolutely gorgeous during the concert, and Del and Sid even had a moment!

Sid came home ready to make some music of her own.

A few weeks prior, at the end of October, we went to another outdoor show at a local venue. The City Winery set up a huge tent in their parking lot to allow for small yet distanced shows. We saw Nashville's preeminent Grateful Dead cover band, the Stolen Faces. It was a weeknight, so we only stayed for the first set, but plenty of time for Sid to show off her dance moves and then take a nap.

The weather was a little up and down, as is often the case in Nashville in October, but we had a few perfectly chilly fall days and the requisite cute bundly outfits to suit!

Zeke and Gin also voted early, as did millions of other Americans. A lot of changes for our family are on the horizon next month, our heads are spinning a bit. Sid falling asleep captures the sentiment pretty well...

Right now we're just trying to soak up this very different Fall in Nashville.
