This month began with the end of our time back East. We ventured back up to Syracuse for what was thankfully a much less COVID-y visit. Now that we were all hopped up on our natural antibodies, it was wonderful to just get to hang out and relax together. Lydia and Jesse were on break the week we were there too, so we got to have some more time together and even one "late" movie night.
We got some more snow while we were there and tried out the sled one more time!
Sidney also got to meet Linnea, as she came up to spend an evening with us. With each new person she meets it still just blows my mind how long we had to wait for these special moments.
And before we knew it, it was time to hit the road back to Nashville.
The first thing we did was rearrange literally everything. We left with a barely crawling baby and came back with a full-blown toddler. Zeke and Gin moved their things out of the walk-through closet and that became Sid's new "bedroom". Everything in the living room and kitchen area that is breakable or precious and that was below knee height has now been moved higher or blocked. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are childproofed. The whole shebang. Oh, and Sid got herself a new highchair and some fancy plates so she can now sit at the table like the grownup she is.
We timed this all very well, leaving winter behind to jump right into a lovely Nashville spring. We've been going on lots of walks, catching those last rays of sunshine after daycare and exploring new parks and trails on the weekends.
We got together with Brandee and Kurt and captured maybe the cutest moment of 2021. Sid and Roxie may have both been scavenging dinner scraps under the table, but that's unimportant when you see those faces.
Sid had a great actual birthday. Plenty of play time in the morning with her 'guy' the Sloth. A big delicious breakfast of pancakes and raspberries. And a very special sparkly cupcake shirt worn to daycare to make sure all her friends know what's up.
That evening the Universe aligned and with no less than two minutes of warning, Gin's family were all able to sign on for a zoom call to sing Sid happy birthday! A very fitting celebration for this pandemic baby. Sid was mesmerized by the candle flame, and a little tentative with the carrot cake cupcake. But once she figured it out, she loved it.
Immediately upon turning 1, babies officially become big kids at daycare. Sid now gets to eat snacks and lunch from the provided menu (hear the angel chorus sing that Zeke and Gin don't have to pack food anymore!). She also now takes her nap on a cot, instead of in a crib, with a blanket and chosen 'lovey' (of course Mr. Sloth). As she has started walking, she also wears shoes to school every day. Like seriously, look at this teenager!
