Sid found herself a lovely dinner routine this past month. Catching up on the news with Judy Woodruff and chowing down on whatever deliciousness was on the menu. She really dug this salmon, risotto, and asparagus combo.
Gin called in some backup for a workshop on survey item development and, as expected, Sid brought some really poignant ideas to the discussion while taking the casual WFH dress code thing as far as she could.
About a year from when we last saw this crew when they visited us in Nashville, we made our way down to Maryland to spend a week with the Fitzpatricks, Pratts, and Ryan/Crosses!
Goldie and Sid's relationship ebbed and flowed. Sharing is hard, but after breaking bread together and sharing a ball pit they were crawling all over each other. Okay, maybe it was just Sid crawling all over Goldie, but Goldie did claim Sid as 'my baby'. They set the foundation for a solid friendship, for sure.
Zeke and Sid kept right up with their Daddy daycare routine. Sid took her first ride in a swing and looooooooved it!
We were over the moon to be able to visit with the Silver Spring Briefels too! Magnolia and Annabelle a) are humungous basically teenagers! and b) were so wonderful and excited to share their world with Sid!
We are so sorry to our good friends and loved ones in the DC area who we didn't get to see or didn't reach out to while we were there.
Writing this in fully-vaccinated hindsight seems crazy, but we were feeling very skittish about all the bubble breaking we were already doing. But good news on that front to come.
Sid is getting closer and closer to taking some independent steps. In the meantime, she's more than happy to toot around with our help.
In other developmental milestones - Sid is officially a POINTER! Gin's dissertation was on a neural system that supports the development of communication, but she looked specifically at the emergence of pointing gestures. So this was a very big moment! It's pretty bonkers how much it changes way Sid can interact with the world.
We made it out for another show with our new favorite Grateful Dead cover band, and this time Nana joined the fun! It was pretty freezing out and pushing nap time, so we didn't last quite as long but the tunes and sunshine were divine.
We had another snowstorm and gave the sled another try. Don't let the smile on Gin's face fool you. This was not what we would call an enjoyable experience for Miss Sidney. We'll try again next year!
We had one last adventure this month, to spend a delightful weekend with Tom and Jill down in Baltimore. We hung out, played games, introduced them to cocomelon, checked out the farmers' market, walked the neighborhood, and just enjoyed each others' company.
With such an eventful month, we should give a shoutout to our MVP Sid. She was just a champ with all of this travel. We did out best to keep her routine regular, but with only slight hiccups here and there she really rolled with all the changes in people and environment.
